  • Title: A Disappointing Lord of the Rings: Gollum Review
    2Total Score

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum offers outdated graphics, uninspired gameplay, and a tedious story, making it a sorely disappointing game. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is the latest game in the well-loved Lord of the Rings IP

The game, unfortunately, falls short in a few key areas. First and foremost, the graphics are greatly outdated, with character models and environments feeling overly basic and stiff. The lighting is off, the textures are blurry, and the level design lacks exploration and imagination. It's a far cry from the cinematic visual style of the Lord of the Rings movies, and fails to capture the grandeur of the source material. The gameplay of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum also leaves much to be desired. There's little in the way of an immersive experience as the gameplay is almost entirely linear, with minimal interactivity. The majority of the gameplay is focused on running and climbing platforms, rather than offering up interesting puzzles or engaging combat. It's all very basic and lacks the imagination that was present in the Lord of the Rings books and movies. Compounding the disappointing visuals and gameplay is a story that is, unfortunately, just as mundane. Despite the potential of Gollum's character development and his nuanced journey, the story is basically non-existent. The dialogue is rote and predictable, and the characters lack any real depth or motivation. The game has a lot of potential, but fails to capitalize on it, making for a tedious and forgettable experience. Overall, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a desperately disappointing game. The visuals are outdated, the gameplay is basic and uninspired, and the story is shallow and predictable. Given the pedigree of the Lord of the Rings IP, this game is sorely lacking in potential, making for an experience that not even die-hard fans can enjoy. For these reasons, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is deserving of its low 2/10
